Terms of use
Last updated: October 2026
These terms apply to Sheffield Gazette (https://sheffield.localgazette.co.uk) and other sites in the Local Gazette network. By using this site you agree to them.
Reader support contributions
- Reader support is an optional one-off payment of £5, £15, £30. It is not a subscription and does not renew automatically.
- A contribution does not buy goods, services, advertising benefits, preferential coverage or influence over editorial decisions. The site remains free to read whether or not you contribute.
- Local Gazette is not a charity, so reader support is not a charitable donation. Stripe processes the payment; we do not store full card details.
- If a payment appears incorrect, email hello@localgazette.co.uk with the Stripe receipt reference.
Using the site
- Content is for personal, non-commercial reading unless we agree otherwise in writing.
- You may link to our articles. Do not scrape, republish or frame our content as your own.
- Do not attempt to disrupt the site, overload our servers, or misuse forms and APIs.
Accuracy
We aim for accurate local reporting and attribute sources. News moves quickly and errors can happen. See our editorial policy for how we correct mistakes. Content is provided as-is and is not professional advice (legal, financial or otherwise).
Third-party links and ads
Articles may link to original sources. We may show advertising (including Google AdSense) and sponsor slots. Third-party sites and advertisers have their own terms and privacy policies — we are not responsible for their content or practices.
Advertising enquiries
Our current advertising offer is £249 per edition per month (GBP), with no VAT charged. New advertising is arranged by email, not public online checkout. Contact advertising@localgazette.co.uk for availability and details. Placements, dates, payment and campaign terms are agreed in writing before publication. Existing customers retain their agreed prices and terms.
Previous advertising bookings — existing customer terms
The following terms describe previously available products and apply to existing agreements only. They are not new offers. Public self-service advertising closed on 8 October 2026.
Local Gazette advertising subscriptions
- Monthly sponsorship plans are rolling subscriptions billed by Stripe. Local Gazette is not VAT-registered, so no VAT is charged. Paid placements are clearly labelled and do not influence editorial decisions.
- Delivery depends on the selected plan and active town edition. Newsletter inclusion is provided when that town's qualifying newsletter issue sends; it is recorded in the advertiser's monthly fulfilment log.
- Sponsored updates must be lawful, factual and supplied or approved by the advertiser. We may edit for clarity, labelling and house style, or decline unsupported claims.
- Performance reports show aggregate first-party placement impressions and website clicks. We do not guarantee traffic, enquiries, rankings, sales or any other commercial result.
- You may cancel through Stripe's billing portal from your checkout confirmation page, or by emailing advertising@localgazette.co.uk. Cancellation stops future renewals; service normally continues until the end of the paid billing period.
- Founding prices remain fixed only for the stated founding period. We will give at least 30 days' notice before a later price change.
One-off digital advertising and notices
- The one-off booking price is £149 total for one approved digital advert or notice in one UK town edition. Local Gazette is not VAT-registered, so no VAT is charged. This is not a subscription and does not include recurring placements, a banner campaign, newsletter inclusion or network-wide coverage.
- Payment does not automatically publish copy. Final wording, suitability and publication date must be agreed separately. Requested dates are not confirmed until we agree them in writing. If we cannot accept the advert or agree a suitable date, we will refund the payment.
- We supply a live publication link and dated confirmation after publication. We do not produce a printed newspaper or guarantee acceptance of a statutory notice by any licensing or regulatory authority. Applicants remain responsible for their application requirements.
- Paid content is clearly labelled. Customers must have permission to use supplied words, logos and images. No traffic, enquiries, search rankings or commercial outcome is guaranteed.
Fixed-length advertising campaigns
- Where self-serve booking is available, choose 30, 60 or 90 consecutive days in one UK edition. Local Supporter is £149 per 30 days and Featured Business is £299 per 30 days, paid upfront. There is no automatic renewal or subscription. Existing monthly subscriptions remain governed by their original terms.
- Town Partner is £599 per 30 days, subject to a category-position and date availability check. An availability request does not take payment or reserve inventory.
- The campaign length begins on the agreed launch date, not the payment date. We review supplied claims, links and image rights and agree the final proof and date before publication. If we cannot accept or fulfil the booking, we will refund the payment.
- The booking includes a business profile, tracked link, rotating newsletter inclusion, one sponsored update per 30-day block and a delivery report. Placements rotate; specific impressions, leads or sales are not guaranteed. Sponsored updates need their own wording and publication approval.
- The optional £299 prepared sponsored feature is charged once and is separate from included sponsored updates. It follows the sponsored local feature preparation, revision and seven-day promotion terms below.
- Local Gazette is not VAT-registered, so no VAT is charged. Paid material is clearly labelled and does not influence independent editorial coverage.
Sponsored local features
- A sponsored local feature costs £299 total for one UK town edition. Local Gazette is not VAT-registered, so no VAT is charged. It is a one-off booking, not a subscription.
- The booking includes preparation of one clearly labelled feature from facts and materials supplied by the customer, one standard revision, and seven consecutive days of homepage or relevant section promotion after publication.
- The article URL normally remains available after the seven-day promotion ends, subject to these terms, legal requirements and our normal correction, archival and removal policies. The booking does not include network-wide duplication, guaranteed social or newsletter placement, or continuing homepage prominence.
- Payment does not automatically publish the feature or secure a requested date. We review claims, relevance, rights and suitability, then agree the angle, final wording and date. If we cannot accept the feature or agree a suitable publication date, we will refund the payment.
- Customers must provide accurate information and have permission to use all supplied words, quotes, logos and images. We may edit or decline misleading, unlawful, unsupported or unsuitable material.
- Sponsored features are commercial content and do not influence independent editorial coverage. We do not guarantee traffic, enquiries, search rankings, sales or any other result.
Supplied sponsored articles
- A supplied sponsored article costs £99 total for one UK town edition. It is a one-off booking with no subscription, no monthly campaign requirement and no VAT charged.
- You supply the finished article and any images. We provide a standard edit for clarity, labelling and house style, one standard revision, publication after approval and a live article link. Writing from scratch, substantial research and dedicated homepage, section, newsletter or social promotion are not included.
- We check claims, links, image rights and suitability, and agree the final wording and publication date before publication. Payment does not automatically publish an article or confirm a requested date. If we cannot accept the article or agree a suitable date, we will refund the payment.
- The article is clearly labelled Sponsored. The URL normally remains available subject to our correction, legal, archival and removal policies. No traffic, search rankings, leads or sales are guaranteed. Ordinary editorial coverage is separate and does not depend on payment.
- This is a separate product. Existing prepared-feature bookings and advertising campaigns keep their original prices and included benefits. Do not purchase an additional article for a sponsored update already included in your campaign.
Additional sponsored editorials
- Previously agreed additional sponsored editorials cost £99 total as an add-on to an existing paid UK campaign. Those bookings retain their agreed terms. No VAT is charged.
- The add-on includes a standard edit of facts, copy and images supplied by the customer, one standard revision, and publication in the campaign's agreed town edition.
- The add-on does not include the full preparation or seven days of promotional placement supplied with a standalone sponsored local feature unless agreed separately in writing.
- All claims, wording and materials remain subject to review and approval. The editorial is clearly labelled as paid commercial content and does not guarantee traffic, enquiries, rankings or sales.
Paid directory and job listings
- Standard directory and job submissions are free. Every submission is reviewed and may be refused if it is misleading, unlawful, irrelevant to the town or otherwise unsuitable.
- Featured Directory is a rolling monthly Stripe subscription. Featured status gives priority directory placement and a visible badge while the subscription is active.
- Featured Jobs is a one-off Stripe payment for priority placement and a visible badge during the 30-day listing period.
- Local Gazette is not VAT-registered, so no VAT is charged on displayed directory and job prices.
- Paid placement does not guarantee traffic, enquiries, applications, sales or search rankings.
User submissions
If you submit tips, directory/jobs listings, marketplace posts or advertising enquiries, you confirm the information is lawful and accurate, and you grant us permission to publish and moderate it. We may refuse or remove submissions that breach these terms or our editorial standards.
Image rights and licensing
Images are protected by copyright and are not licensed for reuse unless a caption, source or separate written agreement says otherwise. Copyright normally remains with the photographer, creator or supplying organisation named in the image credit. A source credit does not transfer those rights to Local Gazette.
To request permission or ask who controls the rights to a particular image, use our contact page. We will either confirm the available terms or direct you to the credited rights holder.
