A Sheffield home-care provider has been rated Good overall in its first assessment by the Care Quality Commission, but inspectors said its safety systems require improvement.
Delight Support Services - Main Office, based at Unit D2 in the G4 Business Centre on Carlisle Street East, supports people in their own homes. The regulator published its findings on 30 September 2026.
People who used the service spoke positively about the care they received. Inspectors found staff treated people with kindness and respect and that support was planned around individual needs and preferences.
Safe rated Requires Improvement
The service was rated Requires Improvement for safety. Inspectors identified weaknesses in recruitment checks, including gaps in employment histories and references that were not always sufficiently robust.
The assessment also found that records used when staff prompted people to take medicines were not always complete. Auditing arrangements needed to be strengthened so managers could reliably identify and address gaps.
Inspectors did not report evidence that people had been harmed, but said stronger processes were needed to reduce risk and make sure the provider could demonstrate that checks had been completed consistently.
Care records and shared responsibilities
Some care records needed more detail, particularly where support involved responsibilities shared with relatives or other professionals. Clearer documentation would help staff understand who was responsible for each part of a person's care.
The regulator also considered how the provider monitored the quality of its service and responded when improvements were needed. The overall Good rating reflects positive findings across the wider assessment as well as the areas requiring further work.
Positive experiences of care
People described staff as reliable and caring. The assessment found that workers understood the importance of respecting privacy, promoting independence and giving people choices about how their support was delivered.
The CQC uses five questions when assessing adult social care services: whether they are safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led. Each area contributes to the overall rating.
A Requires Improvement rating in one area means the regulator expects the provider to make changes, while the overall Good judgement indicates the service was otherwise performing well at the time of the assessment.
