A colourful mural covering more than 200 sq m of wall has been unveiled at Sheaf Bank Business Park in Heeley. The artwork runs along Cutler's Walk next to the River Sheaf on Queen's Road.

Artist Zoe Genders completed the mural over more than a month. Local landmarks featured in the design were suggested during community workshops involving local schools and community groups. The mural incorporates the neighbouring river, a peacock from Heeley City Farm and the Madina Mosque.

Community input and artist response

Genders, 46, said the project had prompted a "heartwarming" response from local residents. She described the support received as "superb".

"We have had many conversations with friends and strangers, been offered dinner, received compliments and thanks daily whilst working on the wall, so thank you Heeley," she said.

Funding and council support

The mural was funded through corporate philanthropy, individual contributions and local authority funding from Sheffield's Community Infrastructure Levy.

Councillor Marieanne Elliot, who represents Gleadless Valley on Sheffield City Council, said: "We're so happy with Zoe's final piece. She has perfectly represented the breadth of beauty of Heeley, highlighting both the natural beauty of the area and the diversity within our community."
